Clinical Cardiologists
Clinical cardiology services are the foundation of any cardiology
practice. Our clinicians are the first line of defense in the assessment
and diagnosis of cardiovascular disease. At the Center for Interventional
Vascular Therapy we will provide careful consultation to the patient
and referring physician with our best recommendations as to treatment
plan. We strive to make lasting relationships with patients and
their primary physicians, so that the patient receives the diagnosis
and treatment of their cardiovascular disease.
Interventional Cardiologists
Interventionalists at CIVT perform a variety percutaneous interventional
procedures. We are a high-volume cath lab, ranging from the basics
of diagnostic angiograms to high-risk interventions. The number
of procedures performed in the cath lab has grown exponentially
over the last several years, and our clinicians have been the primary
investigators for many of the most recent approved techniques and
devices. With the use of catheters, balloons and stents we are
able to treat blocked arteries, stenotic valves, structural defects
(PFO & ASD).
Endovascular Specialist
CIVT has interventional cardiologists who have a focused practice
in treating patients with peripheral vascular disease. There are
a variety of procedures done in the cath lab that have previously
only been done in the operating room. Our clinicians perform carotid
artery stenting, lower extremity angioplasty and stenting, and
repair of abdominal and thoracic aneurysms.
Structural and Valvular Specialists
The area of structural heart disease has been split into two categories
– adult congenital intervention and valvular therapies. Our structural
cardiologists focus on repairing patent forum ovale, atrial septal
defects and left atrial appendages.
The area that has advanced the most in recent years has been the
treatment of valvular disease. Our clinicians are at the forefront
of burgeoning research for percutaneous repair of the mitral valve
and transcatheter replacement of the aortic valve.
Hybrid Specialists
Many of the procedures that were formerly done in an operating room
can now be either be done solely in our cath lab or as part of a
hybrid-procedure. CIVT is fortunate to have the first hybrid surgeon
– interventional cardiologist in our practice; and have established
a training program so that others follow in the steps of being dually
